Why do broken links hurt SEO?
They degrade user experience — a signal Google measures — and waste crawl budget: every 404 is a dead end for the bot. Broken internal links also interrupt the flow of authority between your own pages.
What do the 404, 410 and 500 statuses mean?
404: no page exists at that address (the most common case). 410: the page was deliberately removed. 500 and up: the target server is failing — the link may work again later. A 200 confirms a healthy link, while 301/302 indicate a redirect worth updating to the final URL.
Should I fix, redirect or remove a broken link?
If the target page exists elsewhere, update the link. If it disappeared from your own site, add a 301 redirect to the closest equivalent. If the content has no equivalent left, remove the link or point to an alternative resource.
Why does the check stop at 30 links?
