Date ± days

Counting down to a deadline, measuring the exact length of a project or a contract, finding the date that falls 90 days after a signature: calendar maths looks easy until months of 28, 30 and 31 days and leap years get involved. This page combines two calculators: the difference between two dates — total days, a breakdown into years, months and days, and the equivalent in weeks — and adding or subtracting a number of days from a start date, with the result written out in full, weekday included. Everything updates instantly, with no sign-up and no risk of an off-by-one counting mistake at the worst possible moment.

How does it work?

  1. For a duration: pick the start date and the end date.
  2. Read the result: total days, years/months/days and weeks.
  3. For a deadline: enter a start date and a number of days to add or subtract.
  4. The resulting date is spelled out in full, weekday included.

Frequently asked questions

Does the start day count in the number of days between two dates?

This tool calculates the gap between the two dates: from Monday to Friday of the same week, it shows 4 days. That is the convention used for deadlines (“within 30 days”) and age calculations. Some contexts — employment law, rentals — count both endpoints as included: simply add 1 to the result.

How are leap years handled?

Automatically: the calculation follows the real calendar, where February has 29 days in 2024, 2028 and every year divisible by 4 — except century years not divisible by 400, so 2100 will not be a leap year. You can confidently compute durations spanning decades.

Why is the years/months/days breakdown not simply proportional?

Because months differ in length: “one month” after 31 January lands on 28 or 29 February. The breakdown advances by whole years first, then whole months, then counts the remaining days — the same convention official age calculations use. The total-days figure remains the exact measure.

How do I work out a 90-day deadline from today?

Enter today's date in the “date ± days” card, add 90, and read off the resulting date — the tool crosses month ends and year boundaries correctly. This is the classic pattern for 30, 60 or 90-day payment terms, trial periods and notice periods.
