Elevation profile
Someone sent you a GPX file and you just want to see where it goes? Drop it here and the track renders instantly on an interactive map — no software to install, no account to create. Below the map, an elevation profile draws the ups and downs of the route, alongside the numbers that matter: total distance, elevation gain and loss, minimum and maximum altitude, and the number of recorded points. Perfect for previewing a downloaded route before a hike, sanity-checking an export from your watch, or reliving last weekend's ride. Everything runs locally in your browser, so your file is never uploaded anywhere.
How does it work?
- Drop your GPX file.
- The track appears on the interactive map — zoom and explore.
- Read the terrain from the elevation profile.
- Check distance, climb and altitudes in the stats.
Frequently asked questions
How do I open a GPX file without installing anything?
Just drop it here: the track displays immediately on a map, right in your browser. No installation, no sign-up — it works on phones and tablets too.
How are distance and elevation gain calculated?
Distance is computed point by point with the haversine formula (true distance over the Earth's surface). Elevation gain sums every climb and elevation loss every descent, based on the altitude data in your file.
Can I view GPX files exported from Strava or Garmin?
Yes — GPX exports from Strava, Garmin Connect, Komoot, AllTrails and most GPS watches and bike computers open without any issue.
What if my file has no elevation data?
The track still displays on the map with distance and point count. The elevation profile and climb figures, however, require elevation values in the file.
