Extract Text from PDF
Get all the text out of a PDF — copy it or download it as a .txt file.
Copying text out of a PDF page by page, dragging along broken line breaks and stray headers, gets old fast. This tool extracts the full text of your document in one go and shows it in a single pane, page after page. From there, copy everything with one click or download a clean .txt file ready for a word processor, an email or a script. Extraction happens entirely on your device, so reports, contracts and internal documents are never sent to any server. It’s free, requires no account, and handles a two-page letter as easily as a several-hundred-page report.
How does it work?
- Drop your PDF file in the area above.
- Click “Extract”: the text appears, page by page.
- Copy everything in one click, or download the result as a .txt file.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
No. A scan is a picture of a page — there is no actual text to extract, that would require OCR. This tool retrieves the real text layer of PDFs generated by software (Word, invoicing tools, web exports…).
Are my documents uploaded to a server?
No. Extraction runs entirely on your own device, which makes it safe to use with confidential documents.
Is formatting preserved?
The output is plain text: bold, colors and tables are dropped. Reading order and page separation are kept, with a line break between each page.
Is there a page limit?
No imposed limit. Very large documents just take a few extra seconds, depending on your device.
