Anonymize a PDF

Before anyone even opens a PDF, they can find out who wrote it, which software was used, and when it was created and last modified — sometimes even the name of the internal template it came from. That metadata travels with the file every time you send it. This tool removes all of it in a single click: title, author, subject, keywords, creator and producer software, timestamps, plus the XMP stream that many other tools leave behind. Frequently asked questions
What metadata does a PDF contain?
A title, author, subject, keywords, the name of the software that created and produced the file, creation and modification dates, and usually an XMP stream that duplicates all of this in an extended format. None of it is visible while reading, yet all of it is two clicks away in the file’s properties.
Why remove metadata before sharing a document?
Because it reveals more than intended: an employee’s or former contractor’s name in the author field, the version of an internal tool, or dates showing that a “new” proposal is actually a recycled document. Anonymizing before sending closes those leaks.
Is the content of my document changed?
No. Only the metadata is erased: pages, text, images and bookmarks remain strictly identical to the original.
How is this different from the metadata editor tool?
The metadata editor lets you correct or fill in each field individually. This tool does the opposite: it blanks everything at once, including the XMP stream, with no questions asked. It is the right choice when the goal is to leave nothing behind.
