Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between the fast cut and the precise cut?
The fast cut copies the video stream as-is, without re-encoding: it's nearly instant and completely lossless, but it snaps to the video's keyframes — so the cut point can land one or two seconds off. The precise cut re-encodes the video: it cuts exactly at the requested time, at the cost of longer processing.
When should I tick the re-encode option?
When the cut has to land exactly on the right moment: the start of a sentence, a sync point with music, a clip for social media. For rough trimming or removing a long section, the fast cut is more than enough.
Is the video quality preserved?
With the fast cut, entirely: the stream is copied without recompression. With the precise cut, the video is re-encoded at high quality settings — the difference is imperceptible in the vast majority of cases.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No, the trim happens entirely in your browser. Your footage stays on your device.
